Rock and Roll I have been to two Weezer concerts. They were both good in their own way. The first one, in February 2002, was in Hamilton at Copps Coliseum. It was very much an 'arena concert' with thousands of teenagers and twentysomethings screaming and enjoying themselves. The show was excellent. The second, in July 2002, at the Molson Amphitheatre near Ontario Place, was very different. I went with my younger brother on the Sunday after the fire (which happened the Friday night before). I was still pretty shaken. To boot I was limping like a gangster because I had a heat blister on my foot from stomping out my burning rug. I won't be able to separate the concert from the fire, but partly because of what was happening in my life at the time, partly because I went with my brother, and partly because the show was so awesome, the event took on quite a bit of significance. It was in the meat of the summer and as the sun set in that evening, a tidal wave of gratitude overcame me. |
